Streamlined Archival Film Scanning and Restoration

Advanced film handling and continuing exponential increases in digital processing enables new archival scanning and restoration techniques.

Kodak DIGITAL ICE Technology
  • 16mm/35mm optical and 16mm magnetic soundtrack readers featuring:
    • Automatic alignment
    • Simultaneous scanning of image and soundtrack
    • Synchronized image and sound output to QuickTime or WAV file
    • Reduced frame rate sound scanning for fragile film
  • Operates in normal office environment — no special cooling required.
  • Enclosed cabinet with positive pressure HEPA filtration avoids dust contamination.
  • Power requirements similar to a standard PC workstation.
  • No-risk system integration
    As a result of close vendor cooperation, it is now possible for the Director film scanner to send image files directly into the restoration workstation's attached storage at full scanning speed, so that restorative work can begin immediately, without unnecessary and time consuming copy operations.
