LASERGRAPHICS DEBUTS PRODUCER 3 FILM RECORDING SYSTEM FOR FASTEST DIGITAL INTERMEDIATE OUTPUT
Irvine, California, August 10th, 2004 — Lasergraphics, Inc., the world's leading producer of 2K, 4K, 8K and 16K digital film recorders, debuted the latest addition to its highly successful Producer series of film recorder systems at Siggraph today.
Building on the winning design of the Producer 2, the top-of-the-line Producer 3 was designed to enable fast recording for both digital intermediate and video-to-film projects. It offers a new state-of-the-art cine camera featuring a unique computer-controlled film movement system with precise ACME pin registration, automatic film loop placement, and smooth supply and takeup motion. The easy loading 2000' split magazines, standard with the Producer 3, incorporate ball-bearing supported platens and light trap rollers for friction-free film travel. The Producer 3 also includes a new custom optical system which dramatically improves the recording speed of 2242/5242 film, produces the industry's highest quality color purity and focus, and outputs full 4K resolution.
At less than 1 second per frame, The Producer 3 delivers the highest image quality at the fastest speed of any cine film recorder in the industry. Eliminating the need to conform to predefined image sizes, the Producer 3 accepts any user-defined images from ultra-high resolution 4096 x 3072 to standard resolution 640 x 480 for video-to-film transfers.
Like the Producer 2, the Producer 3 features the company's custom designed CRT controls that dynamically map electron beam distortion and spot size to ensure perfect center to corner image uniformity. It continuously calibrates itself as it operates, maintaining perfect exposure levels over its lifetime.
Each model in the Producer series comes complete with all the components (including host computer and CineProducer ™ software) to start recording the first day. Free extensive technical consulting is also included. The Producer 3 is competitively priced at US$325K.
Lasergraphics' revolutionary CineProducer ™ film recorder software takes the complexity out of film recording. Its super-intuitive graphical user interface includes drag-and-drop functionality for fast job setup and operation. It also features the PrintView ™ print film previewer, which displays the image as it would appear projected in a theater, a histogram, and controls for adjusting color timing, black/white point, gamma level, position, and size. Image sequences can be saturated, de-saturated and/or sharpened. CineProducer ™ enables recording to popular Kodak and Fuji film stocks, including black & white, IP, and even print film stocks.
Free samples of customer files To see output samples, prospective customers are encouraged to send Lasergraphics 15-60 seconds of source images, saved as a QuickTime movie (.mov) or as Cineon, DPX, TIFF, Targa or SGI files. Lasergraphics will record them with the Producer 3 and send back the source images and the film negative. For more information, please contact Lasergraphics.
